My New Reflection

I think it is wierd because the same people who criticize slang are the same people are going around using it and I think that's kind of hypotcritical. But another thing that I noticed by conducting ths survey is that not every one in this class or school uses slang the way we think they do. Like we would think they use slang beause of how they act when they get around their friends but if you actually took the time to listen to what they are sayng it always makes alot of sense. That is the very reason I don't think people should jump to conclusions about slang because it doesn't make since to. Just because people talk a certain way doesn't mean that they are ignorant people it's just the environment they were raised in. So before you jump to conclusions about how people talk stop and listen to what they are saying, because a lot of the tme it makes a great deal of sense.

My surveys and informatation shows where and when students like myself like using slang terms. Alot of us said we use it when we are around our friends and family. Some of the slang we use are things we heard from family members in our households.

I believe that the term standard American English is prejudice because it makes it seem like all African Americans use incorrect English and I don't like that. A lot of us choose to talk that way because it's simple and we like to have a way to talk when we're with our friends away from how we're supposed to talk with teachers.
